Simon Collison is a designer who also does plenty of writing, speaking, and thinking. He's based in Nottingham UK, but often works in New York and all sorts of other fine places.

He's a proud partner at Fictive Kin, collaborating on ambitious web projects and tinkering with bold new stuff. Sometimes he writes books or contributes to web design publications, and regularly speaks about the design process at conferences all over the world. He also organises the annual New Adventures in Web Design event.

Simon learned his trade as an employed designer/developer from 2002 to 2006. Throughout his career Simon has worked in a variety of situations for bands, record labels, governments, polar explorers, and most other things. Back in 2006 Simon co-founded the successful Erskine Design, .net magazine's Agency Of The Year runner-up 2009. Shortly after, he moved on in search of fresh challenges.

Prior to designing websites, Simon went to art school and later worked as a visual artist in London and Reykjavik, Iceland. Subsequently, he founded an independent arts organisation and festival.

When away from the machines, he can likely be found obsessing about music, Scandinavian things, riding his bicycle, exploring far flung places, or sheltering in English pubs or Brooklyn bars.
